“That’s right!” said Taclyde. “It’s a long running tradition at our school to build these camps inside the arena for our students to simulate a heated battle with a game of capture the flag. We divide them into teams of six, and whichever team succeeds in bringing the flag at the center back to their camp three times is the winner of the match! It’s a simple game, but it’s a great way for students to understand each others’ abilities, and to get some valuable experience they could apply to a real battle, where cooperation is key. But look there...” Taclyde said, grimacing as he saw who was participating in the day’s mock battle.

“Is there something wrong?” Rys asked, a look of innocent bafflement crossing her face.

Just then, Flio heard a girl’s voice calling happily from the battlefield as the signal was given to start. “Let’s goooo!!!” It was Folmina, who charged down the middle of the field straight towards the flag the very instant the match began.

Folmina—the daughter of Ghozal and Uliminas, making her part hellcat and part royal demon, although she was equally attached to Ghozal’s other wife Balirossa as she was to her own biological mother. Currently she and her brother Ghoro were attending the Houghtow College of Magic along with Flio and Rys’s daughter Rylnàsze.

Folmina ran like the wind, her feet barely touching the ground as Ghoro hurried along behind her at an uneven pace, crying, “W-Wait for me, big sis!”

Ghoro—the son of Ghozal and Balirossa, making him part human and part royal demon. Like his half-sister, he was just as close to Ghozal’s other wife as he was to his own mother. He was a boy of few words who loved his big sister Folmina a tremendous amount.

Lagging far behind the siblings came the rest of their team, struggling desperately to keep up.

It was easy to tell at a glance just how fast Folmina was, but even with Ghoro’s awkward running gait he had remarkable speed. The two of them raced across the battlefield, closing in on the flag in the middle in the blink of an eye.
